We were so pleased to make it to the marathon this year, and what a race from our runner Paul Reddway. Paul tells his story of the big event.
“What a day I had at the London Marathon, a great atmosphere amongst the actual runners and the crowds on the day were huge, cheering us runners on.
It was particularly helpful to spot friends in the crowd calling my name and cheering me on my way. I must admit by the end the finish line could not come soon enough! I ran the marathon in 3:12:15 – slightly faster than my planned time of 3:15
I would like to thank ‘Operation Agri’ for giving me the opportunity to run the London Marathon. I must admit I started off being an unwilling participant, but as I followed a structured training programme and received support from my running club, my enthusiasm grew and grew to the point where I was taking the race seriously.
Let’s not forget the real purpose of my run yesterday, to raise funds for Operation Agri. I have been overwhelmed by the generosity of so many people. As I write this, I have secured at least £3,000 in sponsorship, including Gift Aid.
So, thank you all for allowing me to run on your behalf and achieve something I didn’t think I was capable of doing. I know the funds raised will be used for such good purposes and will further the work of ‘Operation Agri’”
Paul successfully raised at least £3,000 for Operation Agri and we are very grateful for all his time, effort and preparation in order to make this happen.
As Paul mentioned the money raised will go to very worthy causes and to help our partners and projects across the world.
