Nicaragua

AMOS: A Ministry of Sharing. A health project primarily concerned with improving health in rural Nicaragua, one of the poorest countries in Latin America. It seeks to achieve this by building the capacity of Community-Based Primary Health Workers in 4 regions of Nicaragua.  Health Promoters are appointed in each of the 23 rural communities and these fully trained volunteers make it possible to reduce inequalities of health care, especially among women and children.  The health promoters are equipped with educational materials, medications, equipment and supplies to strengthen community health systems and provide for the comprehensive care of families in these often-isolated areas of need.
