LEADS: Lanka Evangelical Alliance Development Service. The project focusses on strengthening community structures in four villages (Alagapuri, Aladdi, Puthukaadu and Ramanathapuram Central) of Killinochchi District, a part of Sri Lanka that was deeply impacted by the civil war that ended in 2009. The new phase of this project, starting in February 2025, focuses on strengthening community structures for sustainable development. In particular, the project works with the Child Clubs and Village Child Development Committee to build the advocacy skills of over 300 children and adults so that they may work together to promote child rights through effective links with local government and by working with 1500 adults and children in awareness campaigns addressing safeguarding risks for children. In addition, women’s self help groups (SHG) will be strengthened with the provision of vocational training, initial financial support and training in SHG administration.
